Man in the Bookstore
I met a man
and blushed
upon seeing his face.
Nonchalant steps
into the bookstore
searching for a special one
to own.
Composure
so calm
so cool
yet
it changes
with passion
in his dark eyes
as his fingers glide
across names and titles
on shelves.
Sometimes
his fingers
pause
at luring books
scanned
the contents
and slid it back.
The books
he selects
temporarily
the genres
he picks out;
suspense
adventure
mystery
sounds like me.
I crave
for his touch
to carry me
into his chamber
to strip my pages
with tenderness
to explore cross-genres
and hold me
close to his chest
smelling
his fragrance.
Would he come to love a book like me?
This poem is a free verse poem inspired by the popular 'The Red Wheelbarrow' by William Carlos Williams. This work has been given high praise by my professor and peers during a showcase. My individual task was to write a 'sexy' poem and this was my attempt.
